Smiling at job makes you more productive.

Forbes.com reports that according to Jessica Pryce-Jones, author of Happiness at Work, “Happiness at work is closely correlated with greater performance and productivity as well as greater energy, better reviews, faster promotion, higher income, better health and increased happiness with life. So it's good for organizations and individuals, too”.

She conducted a study with 3,000 respondents in 79 countries and “her findings proved that happiness has a distinct advantage over unhappiness”. She said: “What's the evidence that people who are happy at work have it all? The happiest employees are 180% more energized than their less content colleagues, 155% happier with their jobs, 150% happier with life, 108% more engaged and 50% more motivated. Most staggeringly, they are 50% more productive too.”

And apparently this is not the only study that proves that. Bnet.com reports that an experiment conducted by the economist Andrew Oswald with two groups of volunteers showed that the “happier” workers were 12 percent more productive and the unhappy ones were 10 percent less productive.

So if you are a boss, you may start thinking in new ways to keep your employees happy. If you are an employee and want to be more productive, now you know what to do: smile.
