An amazing chain of solidarity To help a woman in despair, on internet...

A few days ago, a desperate woman sent a message, written in Spanish, to A Click For A Wish. Wilmar Valencia, our program coordinator for Latin America who is based in Medellin (Colombia), was the first one to receive the message.

With only her e-mail address on hand, the team of A Click For A Wish sent out a first message of moral support; nonetheless they were decided to do more... Thanks to one of our technical resources and by tracking down the IP address of this woman, the team could eventually identify both the country and the city where she was living.

From that moment on, at midnight hours, despite the time offset between the countries, an impressive wave of solidarity started to move on from Colombia and Canada and it eventually ended up in a little town in Spain, where other women decided to join the wave and bring their own contribution.

These women who work for the local Tourism Office sent another e-mail message to offer help to this desperate woman.

Twenty-four hours later, they received an e-mail from this woman, depressed but alive. They immediately forwarded her e-mail to A Click For A Wish! After feeling alone and hopeless, she was receiving unexpected support and encouragement messages coming from North and South America as well as from her own town!

Her solitude was over and a line of communication was re-established...

Today she has medical support to help her to recover from depression. She also knows today that we are just a click away, that her life matters and her painful experience will help other people in depression, in pain.

Far beyond the silence and the indifference, A Click For A Wish goes on...
